Assessment/Development Centers as a Tool for Change Management
Assessment/Development
Centers can be a very powerful tool in the change management process.
This presentation will focus on our approach and experiences that
have yielded success in the Indian environment, demonstrating that this
tool has the potential to impact bottom line and sustain long term
benefits. We will also
address issues of customization in the context of Indian culture with
examples from organizations across several industries.
India
leaped into a completely different era post 1992, when she opened up her
economy. Managers in both public and private corporations had to
prepare for changes in the business environment as a result of
liberalization. As change management consultants trained in the
Price Waterhouse Methodology, we have hd the opportunity to facilitate
and help several organizations going through transformation. Among
other change management tools, BRISC Management Group has effectively
incorporates ‘Guna Anveshna Kendra©’ – Assessment/Development
Centers into the change process. This innovative approach has
impacted both organizational and individual performance in a variety of
corporate situations.

prior top starting her consulting career with Price Waterhouse Coopers

. In 1990 she co-founded BRISC Management Group to focus on
process consulting. In the nineties she trained and worked with
Dr. S. S. Kulkarni, a psychometrician with a post doctorate from
Purdue
University
. Dr. Kulkarni took his expertise and experience from the
USA
(including working with ETS) to
India
and pioneered assessment centers in the early seventies. Meena
Singh moved to
Canada
in 2003 and continues to service Indian clients from
Toronto
. Her consulting experience with over 60 companies in
India
spans several industries – telecom, oil, health and personal care,
Information technology, confectionary, chemicals, automobiles retail and
hospitality. Clients in these industries include Baush & Lomb,
Cadbury’s, BASF, Johnson & Johnson, Ingersol Rand, Baskin &
Robbins, Tide Water Oil, member of the Texaco Chevron Group. She
has been writing for newspapers and magazines in
India
. She is also Resident editor of the trade magazine that promotes
business between
India
and
Canada
. She has also been responsible for training events
conducted by BRISC related to assessment development centers in
India
.

Vijay Shankar

Vijay
Shankar, a Chartered Accountant (ICAI and AICPA International Affiliate)
has consulting experience of over 25 years. He was part of the
founding team that started the Management Consulting business at Price
Waterhouse Coopers in
India
. After heading their consulting business in Mumbai, he left the
company to co-found BRISC Management Group in 1990. He got his
training in assessment centers under Dr. S.S. Kulkarni with whom he
worked for about nine years. Based now in
Toronto
, Vijay consults to the not-for-profit sector in
Canada
. He has consulted for over 90 clients in
India
and
Canada
including Nestle, IBM, Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson,
Mitsubishi Oil, BASF, Ingersol Rand, Owens Corning, Videsh Sanchar Nigam
Limited and several child welfare agencies in
Ontario
. He has designed and conducted several seminars in
India
to stimulate futuristic thinking on various management issues.
