Do Consensus Meetings Add Value to Assessment Centres?
Though there has been a great deal of research on the criterion-related validity and construct validity of assessment centres, there has been little work on the consensus meetings typically used to integrate ratings across exercises. This presentation will present the result of a joint qualitative and quantitative study which suggests that consensus meetings often involve the use of active persuasion and position power by assessors. The implications of these findings will be discussed for the continued use of consensus meetings.
