Career Development and Successor Management Programs in Public Safety

This unique panel discussion features a group of subject matter experts in both the field of public safety but also assessment centers and testing methods. The main theme of the panel is building career development paths and successor management programs for future leaders in public safety agencies. The focus is on building the skills and abilities one needs for the role as a supervisor or manager, and not merely to focus on preparing for an examination. Discussion topics will also include mentoring and coaching programs as well as key rotations through a variety of assignments. In addition, various testing methods will be discussed to identify potential leaders prior to promotional testing. Use of the assessment center and other performance based scenarios will be discussed. Several key public safety leaders will be on the panel, from fire, police and corrections as well as experts in assessment centers, test design and test validation. This should prove to be a very exciting and informative session with an open format for interactive participation.
