Using Assessment and Coaching to Build Innovation Capacity
This session will review tools and methodologies that are used to assess innovation in individuals, teams and organizations. Twelve crucial roles played by innovators and their teams will be highlighted, along with several ways to assess those roles. Best practices for building innovation capacity will be shared, based on HRD interviews conducted in organizations that have been cited as most innovative. We will discuss how internal OD facilitators and external coaches can play a greater role in coaching innovation. Specific coaching methods and tools will be provided.

Katherine Holt specializes in coaching for innovation and sustainability. She challenges clients to take a systemic view of change and engage the “kokoro” (i.e., heart, mind, spirit and will) of everyone in the creative evolution of organizations. As a certified ZERI practitioner, she promotes the adoption of practices to eliminate waste and achieve triple bottom line results. Dr. Holt managed the Tokyo office for Personnel Decisions International (PDI) from 1994-2000 and continues to coach executives in Asia-Pacific. She has developed customized assessment tools for many multinational clients and uses Innovation Horizons™ in her own coaching practice.
