Assessment Centers for Program Evaluation: Assessing Student Academic Achievement
Assessment Centers are widely used in industry for management selection and development. This presentation discusses the application of assessment center technology in a university setting for program evaluation purposes. Universities must assess student academic achievement to be accredited. The session will detail a number of issues related to this application, e.g., the level of motivation of students participating in the exercises, the training of assessors, and the politics of convincing university stakeholders that this is an appropriate assessment method. This session would be of interest to those wishing to broaden the application of assessment centers to new settings, as well as those required to conduct student assessment.
