Using Assessment Centers to Assess Current and Future Potential

Bell Atlantic (currently Verizon) and PeopleFit™ have created and implemented a process for assessing the current and future potential of a large population of high potential middle managers and executive directors. This work uses the research and methodology of Dr. Elliott Jaques, author of Human Capability and The Requisite Organization. What is unique about this application of Dr. Jaques' theories is the dual use by both the assessee (for development and career development) and the organization (for strategic staffing.) There is also evidence of organizational learning across the corporation. Yolan Williams is currently a Corporate Succession Planner at Verizon, a 260,000 employee telecommunications and information technology firm and Glenn Mehltretter is the President of PeopleFit, an international consulting firm in Raleigh, NC.
